A partnership between the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Eco Stoves Uganda to provide refugee communities of Nakivale, Kyaka 1, Kyaka 2, and Rwamwanja in Uganda with eco stoves. Eco stoves are clean, efficient stoves that use volcanic rocks as fuel. They are designed to reduce charcoal and firewood consumption, as well as exposure to harmful smoke emissions.

The project was implemented in three phases. In the first phase, UNHCR and Eco Stoves Uganda conducted a needs assessment to determine the number of refugee families that needed eco stoves. In the second phase, the stoves were manufactured and distributed to the refugee families. In the third phase, UNHCR and Eco Stoves Uganda conducted pieces of training on how to use and maintain the stoves.

The project was very successful. Refugee families reported that the eco stoves have had a positive impact on their health. They have also reported that the stoves have saved them money on charcoal and firewood.

Overall The eco stove project is a great example of how UNHCR is working to improve the lives of refugees. It is a sustainable solution that will benefit refugee families for many years to come.
